Hiring a professional photographer for a maternity photo session can be quite expensive. Therefore, you likely want to ensure you and your cute baby bump look as good as possible in the pictures.
However, with the pregnancy going so fast, it can often be difficult to determine the best time for a maternity photo shoot.
Best Time for a Maternity Photo Shoot
If you are planning on booking a maternity photographer in advance, it is best to schedule it while you’re 24 to 32 weeks into your pregnancy.
During this window, your baby bump will start showing enough to be captured in the photos beautifully. At the same time, you will still be fairly comfortable with the process. By the time the ninth month rolls around, you’ll start getting tired much quicker, and standing and posing will feel a lot more taxing.
We did once photograph a client a day before they went into labor, and the pictures still turned out very well. So if you’re already past 32 weeks, you can still come in for an appointment. However, if you still have time to plan, you should ideally start planning your maternity photo session as soon as your baby bump becomes visible enough.
While there are certain time frames during the pregnancy that are better for a maternity photo session, it is best to schedule it when you feel comfortable. The more comfortable and excited the mother feels during the photo shoot, the better the photos would be.
