FAQ for Newborn Sessions

When is the best time to schedule my newborn photoshoot?

The ideal time to book your newborn session is during your second or third trimester. I recommend scheduling the session when your baby is between 5 to 10 days old. At this stage, newborns are typically very sleepy and can easily be posed into adorable, womb-like positions. Booking early ensures you secure a spot, as I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month to allow flexibility for each baby’s arrival.
What is included in the Newborn Session package?

The package includes:

8 fully edited images: After your session, you will receive an unedited gallery to select your favorite images. These selected images will be fully edited, focusing on details like smoothing the newborn’s skin and enhancing the overall aesthetic of the image.
50 color-corrected images: These images have undergone basic adjustments for brightness, contrast, and color but are not fully edited. If you plan to print or use these images on social media, we recommend ordering full editing for a polished finish.

The session typically lasts up to 1.5 - 2 hours and takes place in our Fairfax studio.

What if I am late for my photoshoot?

We allow a 15-minute grace period. If you are 30 minutes late but would still like to continue the session, there will be an additional $150 fee, payable on the same day. If you are more than 40 minutes late, we reserve the right to cancel the session without a refund. To avoid delays, especially when bringing small children, we recommend allowing extra time in the morning to prepare and accounting for potential traffic by planning an additional 30 minutes.
Where do newborn sessions take place?

Posed sessions: Held in my studio located in Fairfax, Franklin Glen, where I have a variety of props, backgrounds, and setups for creating artistic and timeless newborn portraits.
Lifestyle sessions: These are conducted in your home, offering a more candid and natural approach to capturing family interactions with your newborn in a relaxed, intimate environment.
What if we get more than 50 images?

If we capture more than 50 images during your session, you have the option to purchase additional unedited images for $10 per image. If you'd like to review all the images individually and decide which ones to keep, you can schedule an additional consultation via Zoom or in person for $250 for 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can review the images directly on the camera right after the session at no extra cost.
Do you send out preview galleries?

No, we do not send out preview galleries due to concerns around AI technology and the potential for files to be misused or watermarks removed. Only fully paid and edited images will be sent to you after the session. Additional images can be purchased, as mentioned above.
Can I get additional images fully edited?

Yes, additional images can be fully edited for $75 per image. This ensures that your photos are polished and ready for printing or sharing on social media.
How long does a newborn session last?

Posed sessions: Typically last between 1.5 to 2 hours, focusing on carefully styled and posed images using a variety of props.
Lifestyle sessions: Also last about 1.5 to 2 hours, capturing candid, natural moments in your home.
Can I include family members in the session?

Yes, family members can be included for $100 per person. We recommend bringing older children into the session later to avoid long waiting times, as newborn sessions can be lengthy and warm. The focus is on capturing your newborn first, followed by family shots at the end.
Do you provide dresses and family outfits for the session?

Yes! We offer a range of outfit options to ensure everyone looks their best:

Baby/kids outfits: $50
We provide a variety of adorable outfits for your baby or children, perfectly suited to the theme of your session.
Adult dress: $100
We offer simple, elegant dresses for moms, perfect for achieving a timeless and classic look.
Luxury dress rental: $150
For a more sophisticated or glamorous look, you can opt for luxury dress rentals, ideal for fine art-style portraits.
Can I get my makeup done before the session?

Yes, we provide professional makeup and hairstyling services for $350. This allows you to feel pampered and camera-ready, making you feel confident and relaxed during the session. Our skilled stylists will ensure you look and feel your best.
What about prints and albums?

We offer high-quality prints and albums to preserve your newborn memories:

12x12 album with 10 edited images (album only): $1000
16x24 print (canvas, acrylic, or metal): $800
Can I add additional setups during the session?

Yes, you can add additional setups to your newborn session! Each additional setup or outfit change is available for $300, which includes 30 unedited images in JPG format. This provides a wider variety of styles and themes during the session, allowing for even more beautiful and unique photos of your newborn.
Can I purchase additional images?

Yes, if you'd like more images from the session, you can purchase an additional 50 color-corrected photos in JPG format for $500. This gives you a greater selection of images to choose from and helps you capture all the special moments.
Can I bring pets to the session?

Yes, you can include your pets in the session for $150 per pet. However, the pet must be well-behaved during the session. You will be responsible for managing your pet’s potty needs, food, and behavior commands to ensure they cooperate with the poses. Including pets can add a special touch to your photos, but it’s important to make sure they are comfortable and follow commands to make the session run smoothly.
Why should I choose to edit all the images?

While the 50 color-corrected images are beautiful, full editing provides a polished, professional finish. Full editing removes distractions, enhances skin tones, and ensures that your photos are perfect for printing or sharing on social media.
How do I prepare for my newborn photoshoot?

To ensure your newborn session goes smoothly, we recommend bringing:

blanketsocks, and a pacifier for the baby.
Diapers and baby cream for dry skin.
Extra pumped milk or formula (at least 4 bottles) for feeding during the session.
For moms, bring a light, easy-to-unbutton shirt (since the studio will be warm) and neutral-colored underwear.
